For a first issue it definitely shows promise. Can I suggest increasing the 'graphics' though, to break up the large amount of informative text. Yes, the value is in the text but a few glossy pictures, photos, graphs etc breaks up the text and will make the read more enjoyable. Also more of a chance 'glancers' will return to read the articles in entirety.

Good work and good luck.

Rebecca Summers May 11, 2010 at 2:30 pm

Hey Guys,

You have done an amazing job on the new magazine, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it & will definetely recommend it to others!

Mike Klassen May 11, 2010 at 2:43 pm

Emma and Dale… great work!

I heard (read?) what David is saying about the graphics. On the other hand, more graphics means more scrolling around if this is going to be an on-line only publication.

I have a large monitor, so things are easy to read. But if someone is reading on a laptop or smaller monitor, they may have to zoom in to read the text easily. The more graphics, it increases the likelihood of having to move around a lot within a zoomed-in page. In cases like that, cutting back on the graphics isn't such a bad idea.

One possible option is more “collage” pages like 11 and 12 to break up spreads that are copy-heavy.

Bottom line, though: This is something to be proud of!

Great magazine for a maiden issue. So compact but packed full of info. Tons of value. Easy to read layout. Very professionally done. Keep going, and this publication will hit it big someday when it matures. Great content. Good Luck to Dale and Emma. More power to your team. Congrats on your double whammy too, Dale.

Congratulations on the articles. Layout was basic but I know it will get better. Why I will read this again? Because it gave me information, ideas, practical tips, an opportunity for creative visualisation, and inspiration to further develop my own business idea. Specific 'user impact' information below. THANKS!
Business Briefs: Taught me new things about two topics of interest (facebook & ipad)
How to turn your brand etc: Had me writing notes and many aha! moments. Lights came on.
Milk your own cows: Loved the short & sweet pointers
Hot seat features: Gave me ideas for business ventures and what to consider
Learning from the Young Rich: Made me focus on their humble beginnings – added realism to my own potential
Success story: Made me visualise myself as that being me :-)

Hi Dale and Emma

Great job the mag is excellent reading! Just one small problem, I did find it hard to read some of the text even on full screen mode(could be old age creeping up though :) . I will be looking forward to next month's issue.
Best wishes
Anne

kendallhayes May 13, 2010 at 1:04 pm

Hi Dale, congrats on the magazine. I'm looking fwd to reading it when I can make a bit of time – you probably have some expert advice on how I can do that!
Congrats also on the baby news. I'm so excited for you and Katherine. I'm currently holding my little newborn (2.05.10) “Frankie May”. x Kendall

petemiller May 13, 2010 at 1:42 pm

Nice.
Ive always loved the Magalogue idea from Randy Gage
eg a catalogue of great products that has extra long shelf life
because the promo pages are combined with solid 'take-home' advice
but you my friend Dale have taken this marketing concept much further …
well into the 21st century. Excellent stuff.

Nicky Tillyer May 13, 2010 at 1:44 pm

Great read, easy to digest information, snippets for the time poor businessperson to latch on to and use. Big fan of saving trees with online format!

Barbara Grace May 13, 2010 at 2:10 pm

Hi Dale, it's a sensational magazine – congratulations. Very readable on-screen. Clean and well laid out, your editor has done a terrific job.
Just one thing – the links at the bottom of page 15 don't take you to the correct place (Steve Jobs' video links to Sharon's webinar, Sharon's webinar links to a promo for the magazine).

Emma Lyons May 13, 2010 at 2:14 pm

Hi Barbara, Thanks for your support and letting me know about the links. Dale will go into the system and fix these up tonight. Warm Regards, Emma

aaronbyerlee May 13, 2010 at 2:22 pm

Great initiative Dale. Look forward to reading tonight.

Danette May 13, 2010 at 2:28 pm

Congratulations Dale – It looks terrific and I can't wait to sit back and read through all the articles.

Danette May 13, 2010 at 2:28 pm

Congratulations Dale – looks great!

Emma Lyons May 13, 2010 at 2:41 pm

Hi Barbara, Dale has just checked and the link is redirecting, but if you simply type the link into the browser yourself, it will direct to the correct page. And next time, I will make sure that those links direct to the right place. Thanks again for letting us know. Emma

Matthew Urmenyhazi May 13, 2010 at 2:42 pm

Hi Dale,

It looks like another winner!!

However, I want to get away from the computer and read it on the way home – the old fashioned way. Is it at regular newsagents, and how much is it? Why no price on cover?

Many thanks,
Matt

Emma Lyons May 13, 2010 at 2:46 pm

Hi Matt, Thanks for your message and support – glad you like the mag! At the moment the magazine is only online, and it is free. You can however print the pages if you wanted to read it that way. Or there is a zoom function to make it easier to read online. Thanks again, Emma

Emma Lyons May 13, 2010 at 2:47 pm

Hi Anne, Thanks for your message. There is a zoom function on the magazine, so you can zoom in on the articles you want to read. You can click on the page that you want to read and it will zoom in. Hope this helps and thanks again for your support. Emma

leoniefeast May 13, 2010 at 3:16 pm

Congratulations, Dale and Emma, it's awesome !!!
Apart from being very 'user friendly', the magazine features elegant simplicity and the whole concept is outstanding.
The information is from a wide and varied sources and it is destined to be beneficial to many business owners who are always on the lookout to improve their businesses.
Looking forward to the future issues.

evanhadkins May 13, 2010 at 4:14 pm

Moving around it while zoomed is a bit of a nightmare. (On line is different to print). Some of the content I found worthwhile.

georgeregan May 13, 2010 at 6:09 pm

Hi Dale and Emma,

Congratulations on your new mag. That's two new babies. Well done!

I found two items of direct interest immediately which I passed on to others.

Looking forward to seeing which awards you'll be picking up.

God Bless,

George.

joannamartin May 13, 2010 at 7:13 pm

Great job Dale!

Looks brilliant and great info too!

Cheers,
Jo

paul May 13, 2010 at 7:19 pm

i find the magazine format annoying to read. I would recommend trying to copy some of the news websites as they are easy to navigate.

I like the personal articles – reading news that is reported everywhere else is of no value. Interviews and success stories will keep me interested and coming back.

Glad you are having fun – keep it up

Darryl Bothe May 13, 2010 at 9:15 pm

Hi Dale and Emma,

Very well done on the mag. Its great and is just what I have been looking for. Keep up the great work. I found the zoom function very useful for my older eyes and the controls were easy to use. The content has given me a lot to think about.

Thanks,
Darryl

Branding seems to be a very powerful way to create “community” and it will be very interesting to learn more about this in the future. Great article.

JACQUELYN McCAMMON-JUNOR May 14, 2010 at 5:25 am

First of all, I want to commned Dale and Emma for a job well done. Congrats on the birth of the BUSINESS BLUEPRINT MAGAZINE ONLINE. It is informative and written in simple straightforward language.

Branding was of extreme interest to me. It seems to be a culture all of its own. The article helped me to see the manner in which I can use my products and services.

This culture will have me surrounded by a solidarity group of like-minded individuals, who share similar world-views of belonging and meaning. Branding is my cause of existing in this formed community which connects with me because I offer what they believe is most valuable to them – happiness, luxury, fun, relaxation and youthful regeneration in an ageless world. In other words, not the logo of my products, but the sensational lifestyle, lifting of emotions, and affordable comfort.

Incidentally, I offer happiness through synergistic products that bring harmony to body-mind-spirit; luxury in exotic oils, perfumes; fun and relaxation through aromatherapy and regeneration by means of lotions, creams, balms, salves and homemade soap.

carmelalukianovich May 14, 2010 at 9:09 am

Hi to the Business Blueprint team. Love the word “Blueprint” in the title. Makes me feel like I'm reading an original. Thanks so much for creating this magazine. I love the way it works online. It's really easy to read, to enlarge, to move around and there are articles that specifically apply to me. Branding got me interested straight away. I got a lot out of it and will start applying it to how I describe the little dolls I make, straight away. Hope to read lots more about this in the future. Great result everyone (for great effort, I imagine). Thanks again, Carmela

Hi Dale & Emma

Love your mag – just the right size for a good read for busy people, with a nice variety of topics. Contrary to others who didn't like all the read options, I found that you gave many choices – tried them all and was very satisified. Looking forward to next month's issue. I'll be recommending this to others.
